The Bentley Collection

The Bentley Collection and Rare Book Gallery

The books in this gorgeous gallery were donated to the Trustee Library by Mr. Fred Bentley Sr., a Marietta attorney who has a life-long passion for rare books. Mr. Bentley has generously donated upwards of 5000 rare volumes, as well as provided many of the furnishings in the gallery, such as the large table which came from his own dining room. Many of the volumes donated to the library are first editions of English and American literature, and include such famous authors as Nathaniel Hawthorne, Joseph Conrad, Charles Dickens, Mark Twain, Robert Browning, Thomas Hardy, Alfred Lord Tennyson, and Robert Louis Stevenson. Mr. Bentley also donated several signed editions of famous works by Eugene O’Neill, Edna St. Vincent Millay, Eric Sloane, and others.
